Leap Into Gaming- Leapfrog LeapTV #2014HolidayGiftGuide #MommyParties

Thanks to BSMMedia and Leapfrog, we were sent a LeapTV to test out. All opinions are ours and are honest.

Leapfrog has been one of my favorite learning resources for kids and so I am very excited to share this fun Christmas gift idea with you! I’m pretty positive it’s one of the hottest toys this Holiday season! We were sent a Leapfrog LeapTV  and 2 great games to enjoy with some friends! My daughter was so excited to plan out a LeapTV party! We filled out some invitations and passed them out to a few friends.

The LeapTV is a great new video game system that is designed specifically for children ages 3 to 8 years old.  The creators are absolutely genius because the system and games seem to truly keep children engaged as they incorporate math, reading, and more with the opportunity to be physically active and win prizes. My Daughter was too excited to wait so she tested the LeapTV out ahead of our party. She is only 3, but thanks to the audio instructions for kids who don’t yet read, even she can independently play and have a great time.

Practicing before her party.

We went to the grocery store to get some stuff we needed for our snacks that were on the menu! After all that playing the kids sure were happy to snack. Although they were not done playing. The Fruit cabobs and Cranberry Lemonade helped refuel their little bodies to get playing again!

Party Time came and as soon as the kids came in they were ready to get this party started!

LeapFrog offers 9 LeapFrog educator-approved games and videos that provide ample opportunity for children to have fun while learning. (They anticipate that 100+ games will be available by the end of the year!)  The games cover a variety of important areas, including reading, math, science, and problem solving. LeapFrog focused on creating a system and games that engage children and motivate them to actively learn. The system is very simple to use and may be used individually or with friends.  The games adapt to each child so that they grow with your little one. For instance, they say that they automatically level to keep kids learning at the right level of challenge.  This seemed true as I noticed that my daughter and her friends that are years older seemed to adapt quickly to the games. Liam is 6 and Jess is 8 and they had just as much fun as my two little ones did.

There are a few ways to interact with the system. This system is designed with kids ages 3-8 in mind, and the system uses a motion-sensing camera and controller that fits small hands.

I am grateful because I love a versatile game. Most of the time my daughter has a lot of energy to jump up & down, twirl around, and run. Other times, she likes to sit on the couch and play, which I think is great because even if she is feeling tired out and less energetic, she knows she can play while lounging. At least she will still be engaging in educational play. Therefore I think the versatility of different ways to interact with the system is fantastic! No matter how they were playing, the kids never stopped giggling and having fun. They enjoyed all of the games, but the favorites seemed to be soccer on Leap Sports and Freestyle dancing on the Dance n’ Learn game.

We have been enjoying LeapFrog Sports! & LeapFrog Dance & Learn. The kids do not stop giggling and having a great time while playing this game. As a mom I have to mention also, that sometimes kids throw a little bit of fit when you tell them they spent too much time on a video game/tablet/etc. With LeapTV they actually tire themselves out and let you know when they’re done playing 🙂 Win!
This is Leilani & Liam playing Soccer on LeapTV Sports!

Jess is having a blast playing Soccer! This was her favorite!

LeapTV is such an awesome gift idea for Christmas this year because it teaches core skills in the following subjects: reading, mathematics, science and problem solving. This system is designed to help kids learn while having fun and that is exactly what it does. It is 100% kid approved according to the kiddos at our party!

You can find LeapTV in several differing retailers, and of course online at Leapfrog.com. Be sure to like  LeapFrog, and MommyParties on Facebook! You can follow @LeapFrog on Twitter.

Kanoodle Genius:

This puzzle game is unlike any I have ever worked on before. I mean that in a great way!  It is recommended for ages 8-15 so I was kind of skeptical if it would be challenging enough for my husband and I, but let me tell you, it sure is!  Our children are to young to play, so for right now my husband and I keep it all to ourself. We play this for so long on the weekends, it is addicting. It really does work your brain. It comes with 7 pieces and the game has 200+ brain busting puzzles for you to solve with just those pieces. You are solving the 2-D and 3-D puzzles by rearranging the game pieces. This game is very challenging and really gets your brain working. My hubby and I love being competitive with one another, but I’ll admit he wins at this one!

Nancy B’s Science Club Moonscope and Sky Gazer’s Activity Journal:

My daughter wanted a telescope very badly. She is crazy about the moon and stars! When I came across this Moonscope I knew my daughter had to have it but I was a little nervous since the age recommendation is 8-11 years and my daughter is only 3, but when it arrived it was extremely simple for me to put together and surprisingly very easy for my daughter to use. She loves how girly and pretty it is and she was very pleased with how easily she could move it around on her own and view the moon and stars. The only thing I had to help her with was the focusing, other then that I think this is great for younger kids also! I think the thing she is a little to young for at this very moment is the Activity Journal. The Activity Journal is great as well because it lists interesting facts and your child can track, write and draw in it as well as do some activities. The Moonscope also has a convenient little LED light attached to it so your child can see to write in their Activity Journal.   I will be saving this for her because I know we will have this great educational telescope for a very long time. It is made very, very well. It is sturdy and very easy to fold up and put away when not in use. I love this adorable telescope as much as my kid does. I think it is a great toy for children and very affordable!

GeoSafari Motorized Solar System:

My daughter is only 3 years old and is already interested in the solar system and so I knew she would adore this educational toy. This was very simple to put together. She loves it and doesn’t mind to much but the motor is a little noisy. Tolerable, but noisy. I recommend purchasing the AC adaptor with this. As much as it engages children and they want to play with it for so long, it runs through batteries quickly. It also has a Stardome that coverts the unit into a planetarium which I think is awesome, although my daughter does not really understand it yet. I think its a great feature for when she gets a little older and cares to learn about the stars more. It does have small parts, so you must keep an eye on any younger children but I would recommend this for children under 8 as well, just because it is very educational and fun for younger kids to learn on as well.

GeoSafari Glow-In-The-Dark Solar System

My 3 year old daughter loves this very much. I am going to hang it up inside of her bookshelf for her.  I had a little trouble identifying the planets while setting it up. Luckily the planets have the symbols on the bottom and I matched them up by using the booklet for help. My daughter knows the names to all of her planets and so she really enjoys looking at it. My only real complaint is that it does not glow as well I was hoping, especially the sun. I charged it up with a bright flashlight and the sun only seems to glow for a brief moment. My daughter does not seem to mind at all. The planets are all very tiny, but I am not complaining about that because I like that it is very compact and looks great in a child’s room. My daughter thinks it is fantastic, and if she does, so do I 🙂

Spongebob SquarePants Rain Boots by Kidorable Review & Umbrella Giveaway #HolidayGiftGuide

Halloween was coming and that time of year is always so questionable whether or not not the weather is going to be cold and rainy or warm and clear. You just never know! The first thing that came to my mind was “what shoes are my kids going to wear?”. Kidorable is the first thing that popped in my head. I knew rain boots would be the perfect footwear choice for my son, rain or shine.I went with the Spongebob SquarePants Boots. These boots are blue and yellow featuring Spongebob and Patrick on one of each of the shoes. We have tried other rain boots before but they are either so stiff or so heavy that it was almost impossible for my kids to walk in them. These shoes are not only cute but they are also light. JJ was able to walk around in them with no problem. While they are hard, they are not stiff like the others and JJ is able to bend his ankles in them. They are made out of natural rubbers so they are also good for the environment.

I loved these boots because I do not have to worry about my child tripping in them. They also come in a wide range of colors and styles so they are perfect for any little kid. They make them in My First in size 5 then children’s sizes 6-13 and also young adult in sizes 1 and 2.
JJ loves his new rain boots. They were fun to play in the rain with and comfortable to walk in while Tick or Treating. He loves to wear them all of the time even inside too. They stay on his feet well and he never has problems walking in them.

My gamily and I decided to visit family in Michigan this Halloween and went trick or treating up there. Unfortunately for us, it was FREEZING and raining! Luckily JJ had his Spongebob Squarepants rain boots to keep his feet warm and dry!

When we arrived back home in Tennessee it was rainy as well and so I though I’d let him splash and have some fun. He seriously loves these boots!
