I was so excited last year when I learned that  Santa granted special permission for the scout elves to visit their families to celebrate their birthdays! You can send your scout elf an invitation online . I had the chance to feature The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Tradition on my Blog last year and now I get to share with you the 2 EXCITING NEW items that are now available to add to your Birthday Tradition.

First I’ll tell you about the Birthday Countdown and Game.

Each kit includes a display-ready felt wall hanging with a delightful, 28-pocket Advent-style calendar for counting down to the big day! Each of the 28 felt pockets may be filled with small trinkets or notes from parents or the family scout elf. Simply place the cupcake in the pocket that represents how many days are left until the birthday arrives, and each morning the child can move the cupcake ahead, one-by-one. The last pocket has a special star on it and represents the child’s birthday!

When the big day arrives, simply flip the board over to play the Birthday Game – a North Pole favorite! Children will wear a blindfold and take turns trying to place special birthday candles on the giant cupcake.

I love that this is 2 in 1. You can count down until your child’s big day and then on the day you can play a special game that every child will love. Leilani is learning more and more everyday and when it comes to Holidays and other special events I like doing countdowns for her because it helps her understand the question she asks everyday “how much longer??” With something so creative like the Birthday Countdown  from the Elf on the Shelf it’s both easy and fun for children 3 and up to countdown until their Birthday and look forward to playing a nice game the whole family can enjoy on their Birthday.

Another new tradition you’re going to love is the Birthday Chair Decoration Kit

I absolutely love that we can now own everything our scout elf needs to decorate a Birthday Chair for our kids! In the story The Elf on the Shelf®: A Birthday Tradition it shows how much a scout elf LOVES  to celebrate birthdays and that they especially love decorating for the special birthday boy or girl.

Each kit includes everything a scout elf needs to design a birthday seat that will delight any birthday girl or boy on their big day. The chair can be customized with the child’s name and age, if desired. It’s constructed of the finest material Santa could find and is durable enough to be used year after year. I also love that Santa included a matching polka dot birthday hat like the one your scout elf wears. Leilani is super excited to see how our scout elf decorates for her birthday at the end of the year!

The contents in this kit are reusable and include:

  • Chair Cover with Pocket for The Elf on the Shelf® scout elf
  • Polka Dot Birthday Hat
  • Red Scalloped Felt Circle
  • White Alphabet Sticker Sheets (3 pieces)
  • Note Cards (8 pieces)
  • White Felt Numbers (11 pieces)
  • Red Nylon Strings (4 pieces)
  • Adhesive Hook and Loop Fasteners (15 pieces)
  • Colored Paper Garland Flags (14 pieces)
  • Instruction sheet

  1. The birthday countdown is so cute! I loved having “advent” calendars for Christmas growing up..and I didn’t know they had ones for other holidays!

  4. I love the idea of this and want to get one now. I think this would make it even more exciting to countdown to birthdays for the little ones. And you can’t beat that they are reusable!

  5. This is adorable!! We have the original Elf on the Shelf that comes to visits around Christmas. My daughter would love this!!!!

  6. I really like the Birthday Count Game!! Our 4 year old daughter would definitely love it.. she likes to celebrate the ‘month’ of her birthday instead of her year! lol And the Elf is adorable! Thanks for the awesome review 🙂

  7. Great review, your review made me want to get this product for several “Elf on a Shelf” fans that I know! It’s so fun to see a Birthday Elf on the Shelf, and interactive with moving the cupcake while leading up to the big day, etc. Thank you! 🙂

  8. Those items are SO cute!!! Thanks for sharing. Personally I think Elf on a Shelf is scary looking. I prefer Christopher-Pop-In-Kins. Thanks for your honest review. kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.

  9. This would be perfect for my little girl! Her birthday is the 22nd of the month, and she crosses off every day, one at a time, starting at the first day of the month. She also LOVES to countdown everyone else’s birthdays, and pretty much the whole month is dedicated as “birthday seasons”.
