Aquarium Restaurant in Nashville Tennessee *Review*

Dive Into a Dining Adventure!

Your underwater adventure begins as you are seated around the 200,000-gallon aquarium, which allows exceptional floor-to-ceiling viewing from all tables. More than 100 species of colorful, tropical fish from the Caribbean Sea, Hawaii, South Pacific and the Indian Ocean – reside in the tank. To the great delight of both children and adults, a diver makes feedings twice a day in full view of the dining room. The unparalleled offerings at Aquarium feature only the freshest fish, seafood, steaks and more.

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at The Aquarium in Nashville this weekend. Ever since we moved to Nashville I have wanted to eat there and enjoy the underwater experience. Let me tell you how GLAD I am that we did.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly smiling faces. The restaurant was crowded but the wait was less than 5 minutes. The manager even greeted us while waiting to let us know that our table was being cleaned. We were quickly seated by a friendly staff member who told us the unique facts about the Aquarium and the fish inside of it and gave my children cute Sharkey hats.

The whole restaurant is beautiful and looks like you’re under the sea wherever you are seated but the best seats are right next to the 200,000 gallon Aquarium in my opinion 🙂 Luckily, our table had a great view of the tank. My kids were so entirely occupied and fascinated our entire visit.

Could this restaurant be any more amazing?? The answer is YES! All of the staff seemed extra happy to help and lovely but our waiter was phenomenal. He had amazing customer service skills and helped us decide with his recommendations what to order by explaining in detail different choices and favorites.

First was Appetizers. We could not decide on a appetizer although all of them sounded delicious. We decided to pass on the appetizer when the wonderful Chef Jerod Wilcher brought us the Shrimp & Crap Dip Appetizer which is a Creamy dip consisting of Crabmeat, Shrimp, Roasted Poblano Peppers, Tomatoes & Jack Cheese. Served with Pita Points. He was certain we would love it and he was 100% correct! The Shrimp & Crab Dip was the tastiest dip I have ever had. My husband and I devoured the dip with the pita points and the kids even helped. That is how you know it was great!

Next, Our fantastic waiter went over the entrée options with us. For my husband, it was a no brainer. He is a steak and lobster kind of guy so he ordered the Mariner’s Mixed Grill which is Top Sirloin, Lobster Tail & Grilled Shrimp served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Vegetables.  I ordered the Certified Angus Beef Ribeye, served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Vegetables. I also ordered a side of Grilled Shrimp. We both added Caesar Salads to our entrée as well.  The menu choices are extraordinary and luckily for parents with picky eaters the children’s menu is very simple with kids favorites and a wide variety to choose from. As for my picky eaters, we ordered them the Fun Sized Mini Corn Dogs and Kid’s Size Cheese Pizza both with fries and strawberry lemonade.

I love seafood but one thing I have never tried before was lobster. My husband had lobster tail with his meal and shared with me, I must say that it was absolutely delicious. Every single thing we all had to eat today was perfect! The steak both my husband and I ordered was very juicy and one of the best steaks I have ever eaten before. Better than steaks from most steak houses even. The kids ate up their food so quick they surprisingly did not want dessert but I JUST HAD TO order the delicious SHARK ATTACK dessert that our waiter was telling us about since we first got there.

The Big Shark attack is Chocolate cake with a warm, dark chocolate liquid center served with caramel sauce, Heath bar pieces, vanilla ice cream, chocolate and white chocolate drizzle, and a large shark cookie. I think this speaks for itself and I probably do not even have to tell you how AMAZING the dessert tasted but I will in 3 words..Chocolate lava heaven!

We even had the chance to see the professional diver feed the fish while we were eating. It was very neat. My kids were fascinated with how the fish were swarming him. He dives to feed the fish twice a day. I was happy that we were there one of the times to see him.  Our whole experience dining at the Aquarium in Nashville was absolutely great! The kids had a great time as did my husband and I. From the staff to the fishes and of course the food everything was A++++!

I can guarantee The Aquarium will be our dining place for special occasions such as birthdays’, anniversaries and more. I already want to go back. The kids never wanted to leave.

When you exit the restaurant (or before you enter) there is an adorable gift shop that you can purchase memorabilia such as hats, shirts and ocean/Aquarium themed toys for the kids. We were so stuffed that we just did a quick walk through of it but my daughter saw a couple things she wanted “so bad!” haha. Next time we will look around more.

I wish The Aquarium had locations in every state, but they do have 4 in the US located in Nashville, Tennessee, Denver, Colorado, Houston, Texas, and Kemah, Texas. If you live near any of these locations I highly recommend a visit. Go visit the perfect under water dining experience and eat some delicious food with your whole family. You will not regret it!

I was not too satisfied with them in the shower so the next time I used them in the bath. As a busy mom I hardly get to relax in the bath so I was really looking forward to them! I am so glad I gave them another chance in my bath because the scent and relaxation lasts so much longer in the bath water, and you can feel the essential oils on your skin. Can you say silky smooth!?
My favorite is the Tangerine and Pink Grapefruit ones. The tangerine smells like Pez Candy, Oh my goodness! It is dreamy!! The pink grapefruit is a close 2nd. Very calming and fruity. If I close my eyes and breathe in the goodness I can actually feel like I am at a spa for a brief moment…until I accidently knock one of the kids’ squeaky toys in the water with me.
I noticed how therapeutic the Eucalyptus spray smelt and I recently used it in a nice hot bath when I had a nasty cold I was fighting. The scent relaxed me and cleared me up all at the same time. I really enjoy this spray when I am feeling stuffy from allergies or when I am sick. This was a life saver for me a couple weeks ago.

Overall I recommend HomeSpa Shower Spray to all of my readers, but more so recommend them for the bath rather than the shower. Either way you get to smell the wonderful aromas, but the bath does last longer 🙂

Create a Safe Sleep Environment for Baby with Halo (Sleepsack Giveaway) US Only Ends 10/26

Understanding the Problem

About 4,000 infants die suddenly and unexpectedly each year in the United States. These deaths are called sudden unexpected infant deaths (SUID). Often an autopsy alone cannot explain these deaths without investigating the scene and reviewing the infant’s medical history.

Safe Sleep Tips

Share these tips with all caregivers to ensure safe sleep for your baby:

ALWAYS

• Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
•  Room-share, but don’t bed share; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend against bed sharing as it can lead to an increased risk for accidental suffocation.
• Use a crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
• Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
• Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
• Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.

NEVER

• Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)
• Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

I have always loved the HALO SleepSack but it wasn’t until I was writing the review that I really sat down and thought about the reasons I loved the product.  I had originally registered for a couple of the SleepSacks because I knew that putting blankets on infants wasn’t recommended and I wanted to make sure my babies stayed warm all night.  Whether its on and I keep the air on, or its a cool fall/winter night I often find myself with one leg out of the blanket.  I couldn’t imagine what my kids would do at night.

So here is my take on the HALO SleepSack. The first thing that I love about the SleepSack is that it takes the place of any blanket needs you may have.  As a mom I always have such anxiety over whether my baby is too hot or too cold.  Fleece PJ’s seem to warm to me but might be perfect for them.  In the summer when it gets hot as heck I worry that they get too hot, but at the same time we have A/C on blast so they might get cold and in the winter we have the heat on, but it seems like our rooms never get too warm…then of course I worry that they move to much and a blanket may end up on their face and that is too scary to worry about! That is why I am greatly thankful for Halo!   What I like is that the SleepSacks are roomy enough that you can put regular PJ’s on your kiddo and then put the sleep sack over those for the chilly nights.  On warmer nights you could just use a onesie and the SleepSack.

Also, my kiddos are both stomach sleepers. I know that back is the best position and from newborn-12 months I always laid them on their back, but once they learned to roll over they favored their tummies.  I am using the SleepSack Early Walker in the Fleece Robot design for my son. If there’s one thing I seem to be addicted to, it’s tableware for kids. I feel like I have every single brand of sippy cup: some have spouts, some have straws and some don’t have lids at all. I have so many spoons and forks that are stainless steel and plastic. Plates, bowls, and snack containers galore. It’s all a bit out of control, really. There’s certainly no reason that with only two children I should have an entire stock pile of this stuff.

When I learned of Re-Play you should know that I HAD to find out more and try them out.

I received the Divided Plates, Snack Stacks, Utensils, No Spill Cup, and Drinking Cup for review. The divided plates are really deep, which is ideal for toddlers still learning how to scoop up food with a utensil. The plates are a generous size; definitely big enough for a ‘big kid’ lunch, and perfect for the picky eaters (like my Leilani) who do not like their food touching. She has been eating so much better since we started using these dived plates.

The spoons and forks are a wonderful size for little hands. The spoons have been my absolute favorite for my kids, because they have a square shape and act as a great little food shovel. My 1 year-old has never been so successful at scooping up his mac’n’cheese and veggies! The forks did not look like they would be good pokers, but they are actually really great at poking the food and staying on the fork.

The Snack Stacks are super convenient when on the go or for around the house as well. They connect together and are perfect for different snack varieties so you do not have to mix the snacks together. Like I said before I have picky eaters so again Re-play gets HUGE points for this great product!!

The No Spill Cup for my son is PERFECT! I have never found a true NO SPILL cup before! He seems to always be able to get his cups to leak…yes he purposely tries! Even he can not get this one to leak. I LOVE IT! It is super easy to clean the stopper unlike some other no spill stoppers. The Drinking cup my daughter received is wonderful as well! She loves being a big girl and drinking out of a cup with no lid, and I let her because the cups have a nice subtle texture on them that seems to allow for a better hold in those tiny hands.

From the Fresh Squeezed Feeding Line, I am extremely happy to introduce you to the Infantino squeeze station and accessories.

The second Infantino stated they needed reviews on their Squeeze Station I jumped at the opportunity to review this amazing invention. I never made my own baby purées before, but I have always wanted to. I never knew how easy it could be. Since neither of my children eat baby food anymore I never thought I would have the chance to make Baby purées but it turns out that my children are super extra picky and sometimes the only way to get them to eat veggies is in those store-bought premade pouches. I have seen some horror stories floating around the web about the pouches that you buy in the store  but I never knew if the rumors were true. I would only buy the organic ones because I figured they would be the safest route but not too long ago we had a couple pouches that were not to their expiration date yet and they tasted horrible and just did not look right at all. Since then I refuse to purchase them for my kids anymore and decided to try and make my own but the problem was I wanted something that would be simple and easy to use.

The Infantino squeeze station is my lifesaver. It’s everything a parent could ask for. There could not be a easier way to make homemade pouches for my children.  I love that the pouches are disposable and easy to label. I also like that the tops are big enough to not be a choking hazard. Still of course keep them out of reach of children. The station is very simple to take completely apart and wash and reassemble again, which is a dream!

Like I said, sometimes the only way I can get my kids to eat vegetables are in these pouches. I made them a blueberry Apple and carrot pouch and they absolutely loved it. They did not even know that I hid vegetables in there! I also have ingredients this week to make green bean, pear and Greek yogurt pouches. It sounds so yummy even I want to eat it! I know they will love it as well.

I think I am officially addicted to making my children’s own pouches. Pictured is our Banana Split pouches. Here is how I made them:

Banana split

INGREDIENTS:

• two bananas
• 1 cup of pineapple
• 1 1/4 cup of milk (regular, soy, almond..it’s your choice)
• 1/2 cup of strawberries
• 2 tablespoons of honey
• 1 to 2 cups of ice

(you can use either fresh or frozen food for this recipe I used fresh.)

Directions:

1. place the bananas, pineapple, milk, strawberries and honey and blender. Blend until the individual fruits are broken down smooth.

2. Add the ice to the mixture and blend until you have the desired consistency. Usually it’s perfect after about 10 ice cubes

The Squeeze Station also has great accessories that you can purchase to go along with it. It comes with 10 disposable pouches with tops. Infantino also sent me a box of 50 disposable pouches, a couple a spoons, keeper squeeze pouch (non disposable), and Fridge and Freezer Sleeve.

My son loves apple sauce and so I fill the reusable pouch up for him every day and it is easy for him to hold and feed himself. Neither of my babies like to be fed by their mommy anymore 😦 but I love that the “couple a spoons” fit right on both the reusable and disposable pouches. The spoons would be great for on the go feedings or feeding babies who do not know how to feed themselves the pouches yet. I will be saving these in hopes of getting to use them one day!

The pouches will stay fresh in the fridge for 48 hours and fresh if frozen for 2 weeks. I love having the Fridge and Freezer sleeve because it conveniently  fit in the freezer without taking up much room. I made 10 pouches so I decided to freeze them so they taste their freshest. To unthaw just run under warm water for a minute or two and ta-da! a fresh snack for the kiddos!

Leilani and JJ loved these pouches as much as I enjoyed making them. What could be better than making your own pouches and knowing what is inside and how fresh it is?! I can not express just how easy it is with the Squeeze Station. I absolutely love it and these faces don’t lie either! They are perfect for any age, really.
